How the Digital Health Score is calculated
No black box. The score is a transparent, rules-based measure of how your pharmacy shows up and performs online. Here's exactly how it works.
An early read, then one score
The moment you submit, we give you an early read across the five stages, each shown as green, amber, red or still to be assessed, based on your answers. We then run an automated review of your website. Only once every stage has been assessed do we issue a single overall score. We'd rather show you a clear picture than a number that changes for a reason we haven't explained.
The five stages of the patient journey
We assess your pharmacy the way a patient experiences it: they search, they choose, they try to act, you get paid, and your team carries the admin. Every signal we gather is tagged to one of these five stages. Your overall score is a weighted average of the stages we were able to assess.
| Stage | What it measures | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Getting Found | Do patients searching Google find you? This is mostly about your website — its SEO, page titles and structure — plus your Google Business Profile and local listings. | 20% |
| Getting Chosen | When patients find you, do they trust and pick you? A modern, fast, secure site — plus reviews and social presence. | 20% |
| Serving Patients Online | Can patients order repeats and book services without phoning or calling in? | 25% |
| Growing Revenue | Are CCS consultations, paid services and vaccinations turning into revenue? | 20% |
| Winning Back Time | What are the phone and admin costing your team — repeat calls, manual claims, no-shows? | 15% |
Fixes compound across stages
The stages aren't independent: a fix at one stage often pays again downstream, and your report flags these with also helps notes. The clearest example: letting patients order and book online (Serving Patients Online) also wins back staff time, because patients follow the structured flow and do the data entry and validation themselves: orders and bookings arrive clean in your workflow instead of being transcribed from phone calls, and reminders cut the no-shows your team chases.
How findings move a stage
Each stage starts at 100. Every issue we find deducts points based on how serious it is (its impact, 1–3):
- Fail−16 points × impact (a significant problem, e.g. no HTTPS)
- Warn−8 points × impact (worth improving, e.g. a missing meta description)
A stage we couldn't assess (for example, if you don't have a website yet) is left out of the average rather than counted as zero, so the score only ever reflects what we actually measured.
Where the data comes from
- Your answers: the questionnaire covers what patients can do online, your services and your admin load.
- An on-page technical review: we fetch your homepage and check security, mobile-friendliness, on-page SEO, local-business structured data, and more.
- Google PageSpeed Insights: the industry-standard measure of real-world page speed and performance.
